BILLY HARLAN STANDING ROYCE MORGAN BELOW
Pictured here is Jim Reeves and two of the original BLUE BOYS BAND. Billy Harlan upper right and Royce Morgan lower right.Jimmy Day and Pee Wee Kershaw were also in the band at that time. This picture was taken in 1958 when Jim decided to change the name of the band from Wagon Masters to Blue Boys. Jim had just recorded Blue Boy and it was doing very well on the charts.
In 1958 I was playing Bass and fronting the band with Jim Reeves and the Blue Boys. I was also writing songs for Buddy Killen at Tree Publishing Company. A couple of other writers working for Buddy at that time were Roger Miller and Johnny Paycheck(Donnie Lytle). Buddy arranged for me a recording contract with RCA Victor Records and Chet Atkins as my producer. I recorded two songs for Chet. The first one was a song that I wrote entitled, This Lonely Man.  Chet really liked the song and actually played the guitar on it. Below you will find this actual recording. Click on the title listed below to hear me sing and Chet Atkins play the guitar. I hope you like it. This recording is something I will cherish the rest of my life. This recording is typical of the Rockabilly records of that era. The picture above was also made about the time of this recording.
